Linio will reduce delivery times by 70% with a new distribution center in Villa El Salvador
It is estimated that 85% of deliveries can be made in less than 24 hours in Lima and in 48 hours in the provinces.
Since it arrived in Peru in 2012, the Linio marketplace has had as its main objective to transform and innovate commerce and logistics to accompany the growth of thousands of entrepreneurs who sell through its platform and make the purchase of products the best possible experience.
This is how throughout this time, Linio, now owned by the Falabella group, has fulfilled several of its goals. One of the most important milestones in this regard has been the installation of a new distribution center in September of this year.
Located in Aldea 6, one of the logistics complexes of Aldea Logística in the district of Villa El Salvador, this fulfillment distribution center will allow Linio to offer new logistics services to more than 2 thousand sellers -term with which they refer to the companies that sell their products on the platform-, having a greater storage capacity and reducing their delivery times.
Víctor Cisneros, Home Delivery Peru Distribution Manager at Grupo Falabella, points out that with the implementation of this logistics center they hope to triple the volume of current shipments and reduce delivery times by 70%, achieving that 85% of deliveries are made in less 24 hours in Lima and 48 hours in the provinces.
From practically where we were to what we have now (Villa El Salvador) we have multiplied our storage capacity by 9. In addition, as of August of this year we have already tripled the number of units that we are processing,” the executive details.
Cisneros assures that the height of more than 13 meters of this distribution center has made the square meter profitable and that they can have a higher storage density; this greater height in its infrastructure has allowed it to even install a 5-story mezzanine solution, superior to what can normally be achieved in other warehouses in Lima, “something that is seen for the first time in Peru”, delimit.
According to Víctor Cisneros, another key added value of this solution has been its location in Villa El Salvador, as this helps Linio to offer delivery commitments in less than 24 hours or same day, next day deliveries, among others.
And it is that this logistics complex has the best road access to enter and leave Villa El Salvador. Even today, this fluidity will be even greater thanks to a project that is being developed at this time, a road interchange that seeks to improve the interconnection between Chorrillos and Villa El Salvador.
The implementation of this solution is part of two major challenges that Linio has set out to meet; the first, to be the best alternative for its sellers in terms of timeliness and delivery speed, which allows them to grow and increase their business.
“The second, to be able to be the fastest marketplace for our clients. They are the two fronts where we are working”, he adds.
In this way, the other companies of the Falabella group will be able to have their stock of their products in the logistics center, and thus grow without incurring higher investments or operational costs and concentrate on their commercial product proposal. Likewise, they will be able to show better dispatch times to customers, generating better conversion rates and a better customer experience, remarks Víctor Cisneros.
The chosen one
The real estate company Aldea Logística was responsible for providing this distribution center as a solution. Víctor Cisneros recognizes how important the contribution of the company has been in having the infrastructure, the available space and the characteristics that his business required.
In addition, he considers the accompaniment they have received relevant and that made it possible to deliver a solution according to what the Falabella group demanded.
“Something important is the closeness of the entire managerial and operational staff of Aldea Logística with its clients whenever there is coordination; that closeness with the client makes any plan viable”, he points out.
The Linio executive points out that the facilities provided to move their operations and the possibility of continuing to grow have also been important. In fact, thanks to this availability of space, Linio plans further growth of its storage square meters next year and beyond.
Linio
Linio’s position in the Peruvian market is sustained thanks to the consolidation of a portfolio of more than 5 million products from Peru, the United States and Asia, added to the close relationship with its sellers, thanks to which they have been able to make grow their businesses taking their products to all corners of the national territory.
It should be noted that the 5 cities with the highest number of orders are Lima, Callao, Arequipa, Trujillo and Chiclayo.
Aldea Logistica’s Word
The Aldea Logística solution stands out for being a world-class infrastructure, with high standards, as well as for having the highest condominium warehouses on the market, with 13.6 meters free for product storage.
“This is important because in this way Linio has managed to operate much more merchandise in fewer square meters, in addition to having the possibility of growing, ensuring that verticality permanently,” says Jaime Alvarado, general manager Logistics Village.
The executive indicates that Aldea Logística has a background of logistics experience that allows it to understand the needs of its customers. Thus, the company not only communicates in terms of square meters, heights, number of sprinklers or warehouse lights or pottery resistance, but also understands the conditions required by its customers to operate within its facilities.
“I think there is added value there, in the b2b relationship that exists with each of our clients,” he says.
Aldea Logística was born in 2013. In these 9 years of operation, its real estate offer has grown 23 times. According to Jaime Alvarado, they will end the year 2021 with 7 Villages or Logistics Centers with more than 173,000 roofed SQM, 50% more area than in 2020.
“Aldea Logística is the only high-standard condominium warehouse real estate offer in Villa El Salvador and we represent more than 30% of the market in this segment,” he highlights.
Last year, the company delivered 45,000 SQM roofed with Aldea 6 and by November of this year it plans to close its Aldea 7 project with around 57,000 SQM roofed. “I would say with a commercial breakthrough of closing spaces. And we are planning Village 8,” he adds.
